As Angénieux marks its 90th anniversary in 2025, honoring both the legends and future of cinematography, this year’s Angénieux Special Encouragement is going to Eunsoo Cho, a promising young cinematographer from South Korea whose thoughtful and precise visual storytelling has already begun to turn heads on the international stage.
A graduate of both the Korean National University of Arts and the University of Southern California (USC) School of Cinematic Arts, Cho brings a distinctive perspective shaped by cross-cultural experience and technical rigor. Her work bridges continents and disciplines, from fiction to documentary, and her films have been shot across Africa, Asia, and North America.

One of her standout works, The Law of Action and Reaction, earned her a Kodak Student Cinematography Award (Asia), a recognition of her exceptional skills in visual nuance. Though still early in her career, Cho’s cinematography reflects an intuitive understanding of mood, space, and character, qualities that point to a promising future in global cinema.
By receiving the Angénieux Special Encouragement, Cho joins a growing lineage of emerging international talents who have been supported by Angénieux, including Kadri Koop (2024), Haya Khairat (2023), Evelin Van Rei (2022), Pamela Albarrán (2021), Modhura Palit (2019), and Cecile Zhang (2018). As part of this recognition, she will be equipped with state-of-the-art Angénieux technology to support her next cinematic project.
In spotlighting Eunsoo Cho, Angénieux continues its commitment to championing the next generation of cinematographers, artists whose vision will shape the future of film. Hers is a name to remember.
